It’s all over
I had my last day at TAFE yesterday for my cake decorating course. Bonuses include not having to get up at an ungodly hour on a Saturday to attend or carrying awkward and/or heavy cakes home on the trains.
We covered some fruit cakes with marzipan and sugarpaste, learning two different techniques and then decorated them however we wanted. I altered some henna patterns I had gathered and piped them onto the cake top using a no.1 tip, then brush embroidered the flowers and leaves. I wanted to steer away from my usual pastel colours, which is a bit scary doing on white sugarpaste because if you stuff it, you can’t scrape it off and try again because it stains.
Quite impressed with myself, even if I took more time to do it and hence have one unfinished cake here to decorate!
